Effortless Administration & Server Operations
Smart structured administration offers the option of local or remote access to servers. With the web-based administration front-end, configuration is a breeze and maintenance simple and straightforward, while all day-to-day tasks can be easily automated.
- Account classes - enable system administrators to create different classes (groups) of accounts, in order to provide basic and premium accounts, differentiating the service levels (such as allowed services, message size quota, filters applied, etc). Administrators can configure different behavior patterns for the account classes they create. Changes of behavior patterns of an account class will be dynamically inherited by all its accounts.
- Delegated Administration - create multiple administrative users and groups with predetermined membership hierarchies and permissions, having limited administrative rights, thus allowing the delegation of administrative tasks for a specific domain or even for specific domain operations (such as creating and managing new users, mailing lists, groups, etc)
- New and improved administration console - configure service specific parameters through Axigen's comprehensive Web Administration interface designed for optimized navigability, with quick links and contextual help.
- Automated operations - automate administrative and provisioning tasks using the CLI (Command Line Interface)
- Reporting Engine - using the Reporting Engine, system administrators can define collection policies for server runtime parameters. Based on the collected parameters, Axigen renders graphical history charts allowing the administrator to monitor the server's health. The charts may include instant values and statistical functions applied to these values (average, min, max etc).
- Single Point Administration - Web Administration interface provides configuration of all Axigen services in a unified manner, both locally and remotely.

- Clustered multi-tier setups (front-end / back-end) - separate services (such as SMTP / IMAP / POP3, etc) on different tiers to enhance the overall security of the system and to provide service high availability
- LDAP Authentication and Routing- store account passwords and routing information in a central point to support the multi-tier setup
- POP3 Proxy / IMAP Proxy - distribute mailboxes on multiple AXIGEN back-end servers and use separate front-end proxies to route POP3 / IMAP connections to the appropriate back-end server

SmartProcessing™
Axigen relies on its carrier-class technology to sustain complex setups, to provide the required level of service availability and seamless scalability.
- Processing Thread control - the administrator can allocate a specific number of parallel threads to each service, making balanced use of the processing power, according to the specific needs.
- Queue Management - messages in the queue can be inspected by the administrator using different filters, such as sender, message size, retry count, etc; different actions (such as: delete, reschedule, send NDR) can be taken on the matching messages.
- Virtual Queues - for each distinct remote domain, Axigen creates a separate queue, protecting the server from potential overload generated by multiple simultaneous email sending attempts to an unresponsive domain. All messages for the unresponsive domain are held from delivery until the first email is successfully sent.
- Cached Queue - messages in the queue that are soon to be delivered are cached; the administrator can define the size of this cache according to the amount of available memory.
- Hashed Queue Structure - the queue items are stored in a hashed structure allowing rapid access to message related information
- Retry Policies - define message retry policies for specified source or destination domains (or message or connection parameters), for example the server allows an increased number of retries for messages sent by premium users or delivered to important destinations.
- Virtual Routing - control the routing of specific messages through specific outbound IP addresses based on various message parameters. By assigning different outbound IP addresses for each domain, the effect of one domain being blacklisted does not propagate to the other domains on the same server.
- Built-in DNS Cache - accelerates the delivery of messages by caching DNS responses for use on multiple messages
UltraStorage™
The intelligent UltraSorage™ system helps avoiding service downtime or loss of data even when dealing with traffic peaks in the email flow or performing complex backup operations.
- Indexed Data Structure - ensures an optimal balance between the space used for storing indexes and the time to access information by introducing multiple levels of indexes depending on how often information is accessed.
- Transactional Storage - provides structural integrity for the stored information by performing transactional data access.
- Error Detection and Recovery - the storage module identifies and isolates areas with corrupted information in order to prevent subsequent data loss
- Effective Space Management - only one copy of a message received by multiple recipients is stored (particularly useful for distribution lists and groups)
- Expandable Storage - the administrator can add subsequent storage units to one domain, thus increasing the available space.
- Storage Overload Prevention - ensured by limiting allowed message sizes according to specific policies based on multiple message or connection parameters.
AntiVirus and AntiSpam
As we notice an yearly increase in virus threats and spam volume, it is clear that protection at every network level is mandatory.
