How to perform an upgrade of the Axigen Mail Server on a Windows platform

Upgrade procedure for Axigen Windows version.

In order to perform an upgrade on a Windows platform, please follow these steps:

1) Stop the Axigen service via the Services Management console. This can be accessed via Start -> Run -> Type: services.msc in the Run field.

2) Back-up the Axigen working directory using the suggestions in our related knowledgebase article:

3) Uninstall the current Axigen version you are running, using the package manager (Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs).

4) Run the setup for the new Axigen Mail Server package you downloaded. You can download the latest Axigen Windows version from our related section:

NOTE: Do NOT run the Axigen Configuration Wizard at the end of the Axigen setup.

5) After running the new Axigen Mail Server version setup make sure the Axigen service is stopped.

6) Override the axigen.cfg, smtpFilters.script and wasieve-server.sieve files that were created during the new Axigen setup with the old versions of these files available in your initial backup. A back-up of the old Axigen configuration and smtpFilters.script files are also kept after the original Axigen uninstall, in C:\Program Files\Axigen Mail Server\run\axigen.cfg.bck respectively C:\Program Files\Axigen Mail Server\filters\smtpFilters.script.bck. These files will also be present in the respective folder after the new Axigen install with the mentioned <file>.bck name.

NOTE: The smtpFilters.script and wasieve-server.sieve files are found in C:\Program Files\Axigen Mail Server\filters folder.

7) Start the Axigen service.
