Axigen TNEF Decoder (10.2.3.2 )

Good day,

I encounter a specific case that the TNEF Decoder stack and it takes 30-45 mins to release the message after decoding.

I analyze the specific email in which for some reason the Incoming message has a broken encoding on the attachment and It attach as Text on the body

And this is the reason that the Axigen TNEF Decoder stack.

And it affects all QUEUES to become pending / processing. All incoming and outgoing are affected till Axigen TNEF Decoder release it.

Do we have any certain adjustment to prevent Axigen TNEF Decoder being stack or Allow multi processing on the QUEUE?

Hello Jay,

Could you please provide the version of the TNEF decoder?

This could be obtained like:

/opt/axigen/bin/axigen-tnef --version

Also, could you please provide the output from the following command:

/opt/axigen/bin/axigen-tnef --mode eml  --inputFile /tmp/sample.eml

where /tmp/sample.eml is the message that has the broken encoding.

Lastly please share the filters/axi-tnef.afsl from Axigen working directory.

As per your instruction I did not find any malfunction on the Axigen TNEF Decoder.
TNEF not detected on both Incoming and Outgoing of the specific message.

If it will happen again I will make sure to make screenshots inwhich it says on queue about the TNEF Decoder:8888

Hello Jay,

When you have some errors you should try to filter the logs to see if there are any additional hints.

Thus, please share the PROCESSING log lines for PROCESSING:0001A465 (which is the first one that is complaining about CLEANUP ERROR).

Also, may I ask you how you have unblocked the queue?

The ways to unblocked it are

Wait Axigen to release it on its own (30-45mins)
Restarting the whole axigen service then the messages will be release, if did not succeed then ill go to the next
Remove the queue folder after stopping the service

I am asking now after occurring two similar incident with message that has broken encoding.
I received first for sure the email with broken encoding after the release on both occasion.

Something is definitely not working properly on your system:

If you have already updated your system to the latest version (this is the changelog from your reported version) than you have to open a ticket with our support team (if entitled) so more investigations should be made.

Other than that I could only advice to increase the log level for PROCESSING to Protocol Communication and maybe we’ll have more information on why the problem occurs.

Thanks @indreias for the help.

I will push to update my system to the latest for 10.2.3.8 and to monitor afterwards.

But just to let you know. If I will not received the email with broken encoding the system works well without any issue. The processing logs are clean and without the CLEAN UP ERROR since the last issue occur.

I adjusted also the processing to Protocol Communication.

After further troubleshooting, I conclude that it is not the Axigen TNEF Decoder who is at fault.

I will open new thread for the said issue for new discussion.
