Error sending SMTP from axigen: "Helo command rejected: need fully-qualified hostname"

I have a problem sending email to a specific domain - I have been able to send from Axigen to multiple domains without problems, and receiving works fine, but for some reason sending to this specific one doesn’t work.
I get an error from Thunderbird straight away, and I get a similar error in the logs:

RCPT XXXXX@YYYY rejected with message: 5.5.2 : Helo command rejected: need fully-qualified hostname

I’m assuming the “” should be the FQDN?

Under Global Settings → General, the server name is set to “axigen” and Primary Domain is set to the rest of the FQDN.

Surprisingly sending to gmail addresses work fine, so my setup can’t be that broken!

Any idea what I need to do?
