Move to new server

I am moving from Windows Server 2008R2 to Server 2022, the old server is running Axigen 10.2.3.8. I tried the standard server move instructions (I’ve done this successfully in the past), but version 10.2.3.8 is unsupported for 2k22, it did install, but the service just starts and stops.
Can the the transferred version 10.2.3.8 be upgraded to the current version even though it has never successfully started? Or is there an upgrade path with intermediate versions that would have to be done.
This is new hardware, with the transfer failure I started up the old version on the old server so email is not down.
So my question is how to move the 2008R2 10.2.3.8 version to 2022 using the current Axigen release.

I figured this out myself, in case this is useful for any else:

  1. Install 10.2.2 on new server.
  2. Stop Axigen services on old server and disable.
  3. Copy working directory to same location on new server (for me same as program directory. I used the exact same drive letter and path on the new server.)
  4. Edit Axigen.cfg and replace all old server IP addresses and host names with the new server’s.
  5. Export the service entry from registry on old server (10.2.2 Wizard cannot install the service, fails with a non-helpful error message).
  6. Import #5 on new server.
  7. install 10.5.2 on new server.
  8. Verified all is running on the new server.
  9. Modify local DNS to point to new server.
  10. Modify firewall rules to point to new server.
  11. Done. Took me about 30 minutes.
I did do a test run through first to see if there were any issues, then uninstalled and deleted everything on the new server before the actual permanent move.
