Send and forget mail from Client (Thunderbird) to Axigen Server without waiting for the Server to deliver the mail

I would like to be not waiting for a mail delivery after I press the send button in a mail client.
I’d like to set the server to not hold the mail client but let it go, and do the server the delivery process in the background. If anything gets wrong, send back a “Mail Delivery” mail!
The Client and the Server is on the same PC now, and if I want to send couple MB of attachment I have to wait until the server send that out from the PC through the internet. On MERAK Mail server it was a fraction of a second to send the mail from the Client to the Server, and the mail client was usable again, and the server delivered the mail in the background… that was not my business and time…
It is true of course for the smallest mails too… An empty mail is also at least a second to be gone from the client… That is a ton of time!
Do not know is it a setup or a feature request… I hope it is an existing feature.

Hello,

Please re-check after you will set the following parameter to 0 (default value is 10 sec)

WebAdmin > Security & Filtering > Acceptance & Routing > Acceptance Basic Settings > Received Messages > Wait for mail processing at most …

Thank You again Master!

This seems to be solved the issue!
As I tested with couple MB attachments, another issue got to surface: “Sending of the message failed” said Thunderbird, while tried to create the mail message to the server.
I just checked every size limit setting in Webadmin, but can not find any that are not disabled or set to maximum.
Do You have idea what should be wrong?

Thank You!

Hello,

Excellent news - I’m glad that the mentioned configuration meet your requirements.

For the secong part, please increase the log level for SMTP-Receiving and Processing services to Protocol Communication level and see if you get any hints about the problem.

Most probably you’ll have to set accordingly the following parameter, but please consider that you have to put +30% more than your intended limit as attachments are usually encoded in Base64, thus the total message size will “inflated”.

WebAdmin > Security & Filtering > Acceptance & Routing > Acceptance Basic Settings > Limit message size to: XX MB

Another setting you may take into consideration is the following one:

WebAdmin > Domains & Accounts > Edit domain > Account Defaults > Send / Receive restrictions > Restrictions > Message sending > Allow sending a maximum of xxx messages with a total of yyy MB in ttt hours.

Note: if you like to disable the size limit from above you may set to 0 MB

I really hope you know what are you doing as usually the mentioned sending restrictions are there to protect your server to be used for spam distribution. My recommendation is when you’ll find the right sending restrictions you will set them specific to an account / account class (instead of leaving them to the domain defaults).

Ioan
