Configuring LDAP Authentication (without Synchronization)

This article describes how to successfully enable LDAP authentication for your mail server. The below method is an alternative to the new synchronization feature available in the 7.0 AXIGEN release.

Solution

NOTES:

  • Before setting up LDAP authentication for your server, you must have an LDAP server configured and an LDAP connector previously defined in your Axigen configuration.
  • Starting with the 7.0 AXIGEN releases you can opt for using synchronization as a means of addressing the interconnection with an LDAP based structure. For this approach check our alternative articles.

1. Log into the webadmin interface.

2. Go to the "Clustering" context and select "Clustering Setup" from the list.

3. On the "Routing and Authentication" tab, go to the "Authentication Type" section.

4. Select one of the two LDAP methods (depending on your setup) from the "Perform" drop-down box.

5. Select the LDAP connector that will be used to retrieve the passwords from the second drop-down box.

6. Click the "Save Configuration" button to make the changes permanent.

WARNING: The LDAP connector must have the "Password Attribute" field set up correctly. If this field is blank or incorrect, Axigen will not be able to verify the credentials provided and all login attempts will fail. The only exception to this rule is the Active Directory setup.
