AXIGEN Filtering Module reports "Error reading socket or socket timed out" messages in the log
Issue cause
The AV/AS product is responding very slowly using the milter protocol
Solution
Sometimes, due to filtering applications (like antivirus or antispam products) slow response on socket, the AXIGEN Filtering module returns errors in the log files, like the following ones:
NOTE: the Axigen Filtering Module (aximilter) is deprecated and was removed starting with Axigen 7.6. The current MILTER integration method is described in the KB article available here.
ERROR: Error reading socket or socket timed out: 127.0.0.1:1990In order to solve this problem, you need to increase the timeout value in the aximilter.conf file (consult the README file contained in the downloaded tar.gz package for the full file path of the aximilter.conf file):
ERROR: Error in milter communication protocol
rwTimeout = 65535Restart the axigenfilters system service.
