How to Enable Remote Redirects

All messages generated from the server itself to remote recipients fail with "relay denied" error message.

Solution

All messages generated from the server itself are sent by performing a loopback connection to the SMTP Receiving service.

In this sense, if such a message requires to be delivered remotely, it will fail if the 127.0.0.1 (localhost) is not excluded from the requirement to authenticate in order to send remote messages.

Please create an advanced acceptance / routing rule to allow the IP address 127.0.0.1 to relay messages without authenticating by following the steps detailed below:

- Login to the Webadmin interface.
- Click the Security & Filtering button.
- Click the Acceptance & Routing link.
- Click the Advanced Settings tab.
- Click the Add acceptance / routing rule button.
- Type a name for the new rule (ex.: localhost_relay_allow).
- In the Conditions section use the selection box to select the IP item from the Remote Address category and click the Add condition button. Specify the IP address for the localhost (127.0.0.1).
- In the Actions section use the selection box to select the Remote item from the Delivery category and click the Add action button.
- Select the Allow delivery for all users item in the action's selection box.
- Click the Save configuration button to save and apply the new rule.
