How to Access the 'Spam' Folder via POP3

This article explains how a user can check his 'Spam' account folder using a standard POP3 client.

Solution

Let's presume that, for any reason, a user owning account1@example.tld wants to regularly access the content of his Spam folder on the Axigen server without using IMAP or the Webmail interface.

Normally, such folders cannot be accessed via POP3, because the protocol was not designed to support this. However, it is still possible to access this folder on Axigen-hosted accounts; all you have to do is define a new account in your POP3 email client, specifying account1+Spam@example.tld as login user name.

Note 1: the newly created account in the email client will only reveal the content of the Spam folder. It is still necessary to keep to keep the standard account, for accessing Inbox.

Note 2: it is also possible to apply this method for accessing other folders at the root level, for example Trash
