Setting up Quota for Multiple Accounts Using Account Classes

Account classes can be used to group several user accounts that have common settings. This is achieved through the inheritance scheme. By default, accounts inherit the default settings of the domain. This inheritance can be changed using the account classes.

Solution

Defining a new account class:

1. To set up an account class, first log into the webadmin interface.

2. In the "Domains & Accounts" section, select the "Account classes" button to open up the list of already existing account classes.

3. Adding an account class is achieved by clicking the "Add account class" button at the top of the page, entering a name for the account class and selecting the "Quick add" button.

The account class will now be listed.

4. To change the default class settings, select the "Edit" button.

5. The "Quotas and restrictions" tab in the settings page allows changing the quota value for the account class.

6. Select the check-box next to "Limit total mailbox size to:" and enter a value for the quota variable. Click the "Save configuration" button at the bottom of the page to save the changes.

Changing an account's configuration inheritance settings:

1. Enter the "Manage accounts" page and click the "Edit" button next to the account name.

2. In the "General" tab, select the account class name from the drop-down box next to "Inherit configuration details from".

3. Click the "Save configuration" button at the bottom of the page to update the account settings.
